HIV Policy Lab
A platform dedicated to documenting and monitoring HIV-related laws and policies across the globe, allowing for cross-country comparisons and analysis.
Project Description
The HIV Policy Lab is a collaborative effort between Talus Analytics, Georgetown University, the O’Neill Institute, and various other partners and supporters. Built upon a vast collection of data, including government reports, legal documents, and more, it seeks to document where HIV-related science has been rendered into meaningful laws and policies in countries across the world.
For this project, I helped to build many of the frontend visualizations and the user interface, including creating charts, working on styling, implementing mobile friendliness, and more. Development of the website was a thoroughly iterative process, and I worked with the rest of the Talus development and design team to communicate both the nuance and major takeaways of the underlying data, navigating complex geopolitical relationships and boundaries along the way. Ultimately, we produced a site for over 5,000 users that captures a uniquely valuable dataset, helping track global progress in fighting the spread of HIV and ending the AIDS pandemic.
